Santa Rosa Theater

In the old days there was this movie theater, you know the kind where they would show one picture, you know the kind that had a balcony. One of those old movie palaces was located on the corner of Telephone Rd. and Park Place. It was known as the Santa Rosa. I saw a couple of b-pictures there when I was a kid. Here is what's left of it now: These pictures were taken on Sunday, April 15, 2007 at about 11:30am.

There was a time, after the theater closed that it became an adult bookstore / peep show combo. They were even open 24 hours a day for your titilating convenience. Below, I think, is part of its once fabulous marquee that read: Santa Rosa.

Remember when Norma Desmond said something about all those people out there in the dark? Below is where all those people used to sit in the dark. You can still see the last remaining remnants of the balcony where boys in crew cuts and girls in beehives smooched 10,000 midnights ago.

It is sad to see it go.
